LOOKING UNTO JESUS
I remember talking at length with an elderly sick lady once as she recounted all the evil deeds of her daughter against her. “It is well ma. Please give me her full name and I will seek her out in France through social network. You sure need to reconcile with her”. You needed to see how the monster of bitterness rose up in her as she objected vehemently. This particular monster has sent more people to the cemeteries than any other.
Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: Who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. Again I say that man is fallible. When you look up to man for what you should receive from Jesus, you set yourself up for disappointment. ‘But he is a man of God’, you hear some people say. To that, I point you to Luke 8. There, the Word of God tells us the parable of the sower. We are told that some of those seeds fell on shallow soil and sprang up immediately. Have you considered that some of them sprang up and became leaders in our Churches having neither depth nor roots. Looking unto people like that will be toiling with disappointment.
Look unto Jesus. Hebrews chapter one tells us that God spoke to our fathers in the past through various means but in these last days, has chosen to speak to us through His son. That His son is one with His Word according to John 1:1. Looking unto Jesus really means filling our hearts with the Word and doing what it says.
When a cup is filled to the brim with water, there will be no space for kerosene. When your heart is full of the Word, there will be no space for bitterness.
Having said all that, I have noticed from scripture that there are people we are told not to company with. The law of association is one of the most important laws of success. In John 15, we are told that our father prunes the vine to make it more fruitful. You just have to learn how to prune disempowering relationships in your life. This was part of my motivation for writing THE KINGDOM WOMAN. Nobody maximizes destiny tied up with toxic relationships.
