A LESSON ON LEECHES

I hate leeches, my daughter said to me a few days ago. “This girl has started,” I thought. She just has a way with words.

But you know leeches, don’t you? We see them on the bodies of animals. A leech on the skin of a cow is not willing to do much for himself. It passively stays on the back of that animal, sucking nutrients from it. The worst part is that even when it reproduces, it still expects the host animal to provide everything that its babies require.

You see them in our families and churches too. Able-bodied humans made in the image of God who have refused to do much for themselves. When you go to church on Sunday, they are at home sleeping. When you are at home reading your Bible, they are watching home videos. While you are training your mind, they are busy entertaining theirs.

Do you know what? You cannot have a great life as a leech. You have what it takes to be great like anyone else. It is even easier to succeed in life if you are a Nigerian. We are so blessed in this nation with great men of God. Our nation is oozing with insight and inspiration from all corners. Take this counsel from me for I mean well: do not depend on one wealthy relation or friend. If Lazarus could speak from Heaven, he will tell you that the rich can only give you crumbs. So why settle for crumbs when you can access full loaves?

Matthew: 12:35 says, A good man, out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things. Our hearts are our result centres. From our heart, we pull out good things. The only challenge is that you will first have to input good things there before you can pull them out in multiplied folds. Why don’t you set a goal for yourself for the next two or three months. Bombard your heart with inspired materials. I think it was Job that said that he made a covenant with his eyes. Make a covenant with your eyes and ears to only watch and listen to the Word of grace and other success laden resources. You will be surprised at what transformation that would have taken place in you after only three months.

You are blessed.
